Joanne Currence

Joanne’s interest in writing started with a locked diary as a young girl in Minnesota. She loved writing her thoughts and feelings especially knowing they’d be kept secret. As a teen her writing found its way in journals, capturing in words those memorable life experiences . . . from summer camp adventures and fun family ski trips to special high school moments and travels
to Europe during college.

Having taught elementary school for 33 years,Joanne’s favorite times were writing with
her students, exploring how to make writingmore descriptive and vivid, and creatinginviting action-packed stories. Since then
she’s enjoyed writing for young people and hopes to do so for many years to come. Joanne lives in Colorado Springs
and loves to ski, golf, bike, and hike, along with entertaining friends at home and vacationing in the tropics.

Never Alone
By Joanne Currence

And surely I am with you always . . .
Matthew 28:20 (NIV)

Do you ever have those days when nothing’s going your way? When you’re late for school and everyone stares as you’re taking your seat? When you thought your best friend was your best friend, but now you’re not so sure? When your friends are going to the movies, and your parents are saying, “No?”

Well, you’re not alone. Besides the fact that everyone has those days, you’re not alone because God is with you, too. Don’t ever forget that! He knows everything that’s happening about your day and your life.  He cares about everything that concerns you. Now, isn’t that cool?

So, the thing to do when times get tough is turn to Him, because, first of all, He loves you and cares so much about you. He knows and understands you and wants you to know that everything’s going to be okay. He has the answer to every situation you’re dealing with and every problem that comes your way.

Just stop and listen to Him and He’ll tell you what to do, in that still small voice. If you’re not hearing what He’s saying, keep your mind on Him, and trust Him, because He’ll tell you at the right time. In the meantime, know that He’s right there with you and that you’ll never be alone. The truly neat thing is . . . when He comes through for you, you can tell your friends what He’s done and help them when things aren’t going their way.  Isn’t that absolutely awesome? Well, so is He!

Things to do when you’re feeling alone:

Call a close friend

Listen to some favorite music

Journal your thoughts to God

Remember that He’s always with you!

My Favorite Fruit
By Danielle

How wide, how long, how high, and how deep is His love.
Ephesians 3:18b

When people ask me the question, “What is your favorite fruit?” I say “love.” When I say this, many people are confused and say, “Love? Love isn’t a fruit!”  Love IS a fruit; it is a Fruit of the Spirit. Without love we could never have an earth.

“Why?” you may ask.

Because God would never even bother to make an earth if he didn’t love us! We couldn’t have a heaven if Jesus didn’t love us enough to die on the cross for us! Without love, we would be lost.

God is Love. That is why my favorite fruit is love.

What else God says:
“So do not fear, for I am with you . . .” Isaiah 41:10 NIV

“You will keep in perfect
peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3 NIV

“Cast all your anxiety on him,
because he cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:7 NIV

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

PRAYER

Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. James 5:13

all grace abound to you,
so that in all things
at all times; having all

I Corinthians 9: 8 NIV

Whatever you do,
work at it with all

WISDOM

James 1: 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
