Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them." Proverbs 4:5

How Can I Earn Money?

Always ask an adult for permission before you begin a job. Be patient; they'll probably tell you how to do the job. That's okay.

Listen and learn.

1. Wash cars
2. Water gardens
3. Rake yard
4. Weed gardens
5. Sweep porches
6. Laundry
7. Make and sell crafts: cards, soap, pillows, homemade paper.
8. Clean out a garage. (Don't lift heavy objects, chemicals, or breakables.)
9. Help price items for garage sales.
10. Help someone run their yard sale and earn a % of the profit.
11. Do extra household chores.
12. Save grocery coupons and help your parents shop. Ask them to give you the $ saved. (Some stores double and triple coupons.)
13. Work for your neighbors: pet sit, gardening chores, clean
14. Co-Sit: Busy moms may allow you to help supervise children in their home. (It's not quite babysitting because an adult will be with you, but you'll be the one answering kid questions, feeding, and playing with them.)

After you complete a job, ask how you could improve. Not only will you impress your "employer," you'll learn. Write us at DevoKids and share your story; How do you earn money?

Whose Money Is It?

Have you ever been to church, and people put money in the offering plate when the ushers pass it around? Maybe your family does it, or somebody you know. Maybe you've done it yourself. Have you ever wondered why we do that?

It's called "tithing" and that means giving one-tenth. Think of it like this. If I give you a ten dollar bill, and you give one back to me, have you lost one dollar, or gained nine?

Tithing is like that. God has given us everything we have, and He gives us health and strength so we can work and make money. To show that we love Him, and to remember that He gives us everything, He asks us to give a small part back to Him.

How do I keep money?

Save $5 a week at 6 percent interest compounded quarterly and you will
accumulate $266 per year, $1,503 after 5 years, and $3,527 after 10 years!

  • Check bank interest rates.
  • Compounding money earns interest on top of interest.

What should I do before I spend?

Shop around for the best price.
Remember, a 'sale' is not always the best deal. Learn the difference between a need and a want. Don't hurry to spend money. Once you spend, your money is gone.
